Child Find - Ages 3 to 21
The Carlstadt School district is participating in Child Find, a statewide program to locate and provide services for children ages 3 to 21 years who may have physical, mental, academic and/or emotional difficulties. Screening, professional guidance and an education program, if needed, are available free through the local public schools.
Possible signs of learning disabilities include a child that does not play, is unusually quiet or overactive, or seems to have a vision/hearing problem or an academic problem. If you have concerns about your child's developmental milestones; learning to speak, walk, talk or to toilet, or suspect a learning disability, contact the Carlstadt Child Study Team at 201-672-3000 and listen for prompts.
Parent Advisory Committee
As of May, 2007, a special education parent advisory group as been created in Carlstadt as per N.J.A.C. Title 6A which states:
A special education parent advisory group must be in place in the district to provide input to the district on issues concerning students with disabilities [1.2(h)]. If interested in joining the group, please contact Special Services at 201-672-3000, ext. 3111.
Notice: The Special Education Department has a parent group called, “Parent Advisory Committee.” Two additional members are needed for the executive committee. If interested, please call or email Suzanne Mattiace.
