PBSIS

PBSIS - stands for  "Positive Behavior Supports in Schools"

Our school was lucky to be selected for a 3-year grant from Rutgers University to implement positive behavior supports in our schools (PBSIS). We are working on clarifying our school values and aligning them with our expectations in every area of school. Improvements are being made to our school-wide reward program, Cougars Care, and students have more opportunities to earn rewards and prizes throughout the year for themselves and for their grade or assigned "house" named after our core values: Kindness, Inclusion, Respect, and Responsibility. 

Everyday practices can be used to support student/child behavior in and out of school:

 

1. Precorrection

What we do in school is carried over to your homes and vice versa. One of our everyday practices to help support our students is called precorrection: noticing a difficult event or time in the day and setting our students up for success by reminding them of the expectations beforehand. After, we compliment our students for successfully following through. You can do this at home too! Here is a video of how precorrection is used in schools and at home:
